In reviewing your message I understand that you had downgraded the Windows to XP and would like to have the drivers for the system. I will be glad to assist you in resolving this issue.
I understand your concerns. I will do my best to resolve your issue.
I would like to explain that HP has not come out with a backward compatiable drivers for the Windows XP. However I am providing a few drivers that can be used in the system.
Note.: HP does not recommend installing of retail version Operating System, it cannot guarantee a high level of compatibility for all basic hardware and software components of the PCs. PC device drivers (including graphics, BIOS, chipset, etc) for some PC components may simply not be available.
Also, the Windows operating system shipped with the notebook is enhanced by HP. The enhancements provide added functionality for power management, security, and the use of drives and PC Cards. These enhancements are lost if you install a retail version.
This does not mean that you cannot install the Windows2000/XP retail OS. You can install it, but we cannot guarantee that all the device drivers will be available. Also we cannot guarantee that all pre-installed application will work/be available with Windows2000/XP.
However, For your convinence I am providing complete Windows XP compactible drivers in below :
To install the audio driver in c500 series notebook in which XP is installed and is preinstalled with Vista:
First download and install the UAA driver from the following link:
After installing this, download and install the audio driver from the following link:
This will create a swsetup folder in c drive ("C:\swsetup\sp32823")
Installing this driver may result in an error. But continue with the following steps to get the audio driver installed correctly.
1. Click on Start and select Run. Now type devmgmt.msc and press enter.
2. Right click on "Audio device on High Definition Audio Bus" and click Update driver.
3. Select "Install from a list or specific location"
4. Click Next. Then select "Don't search, I will choose the driver to install"
5. Click Next and then select "Sound, video and game controller" from the list.
6. Click Next and then click Have Disk.
7. Click Browse C:\swsetup\sp32823 folder and select the .inf (wis30b2a) file and click open and Continue with the onscreen instructions.
